Have you ever wondered if any of your teachers would have chosen a different career path? As a senior, trying to figure out what I’ll do in the future hasn’t been one of the easiest choices. I’m hoping that becoming a teacher will never cross my mind. I’ve come across many teachers that have said they used to say the same thing, and look at where they are now! Mr. Flavin planned on becoming a physical therapist but ended up substituting for a teacher here at Hubbard that went on a maternity leave. The teacher never came back and he was hired. When asked what advice he’d give his younger self, he enthusiastically said, “Don’t become a teacher.” Mr.Shunt said he was interested in pursuing a career in graphic design which I think is interesting and would’ve possibly been a career choice I’d make due to the fact that we’ll be graduating soon and the choices we make from now on will determine where we’ll end up in a few years. When asked what were some jobs he previously had, he said, “Taco Bell, McDonald’s, CDW, and MCL Software Services in California for 2 years making websites for several companies, including 2 international ones which were FujiFilm France and Microsoft Europe.” He also said, “Start investing as soon as you have your first paycheck”. I noticed that once they started teaching, they liked it. It is a pretty nice environment to be in. Both teachers mentioned that the best part of working at Hubbard are the students!
